Each couple is special and unique. Some may want their wedding day to be centered on them, while others want to share the joy and create a truly cultural wedding that is undoubtedly a family affair. We adore the closeness couples have with their families, and Lovkiran and Jerry’s Sikh wedding was no exception. Their St. Regis wedding was a spectacular feat from beginning to end!
While all couples have similarities – they meet, fall in love and get married – it is their background that makes them exceptional. Lovkiran and Jerry wanted to include their Sikh culture into their day. Following tradition, the couple began their festivities on Friday with a braat ceremony. Jerry rode in on a horse drawn carriage to meet family and friends at the front drive of the St. Regis Hotel. The Milni, or the dance party and celebration, kicked off the weekend and set the tone for the entire celebration.
Guests enjoyed tea and snacks before the ceremony on the Grand Lawn. A Gurdwara was beautifully draped at the ceremony location. Guests showed upmost respect and admiration for the Gurus. It was absolutely remarkable to witness the culture and tradition built into the Sikh ceremony.
Once the ceremony was complete, family and friends joined the newlyweds in a celebratory lunch. At the end of the day, Lovkiran and Jerry left in a helicopter to spend the evening together. What style!
The next day was even more beautiful than the first! Family and friends danced, ate and celebrated for hours. Lovkiran and Jerry were able to celebrate their union in a gorgeously decorated reception in the ballroom of the St. Regis. Traditional faire was served and enjoyed by all. Bright colored saris, sharply dressed men and excited children surrounded the couple as they shared their love with more than 500 of their friends, family and loved ones.
We enjoyed every moment of their festivities and being a part of their family affair. We wish Lovkiran and Jerry, and their new addition to their family, nothing but joy and happiness!
