It was a night to remember! M. danced the night away on the black and white checkered dance floor, guests drank cocktails out of neon cups with swirly straws…some even joined in on a competitive game of Candy Land! We brought back the best of the 80’s and 90’s all night long!
The Buffet Line:We did all the food we used to eat when we were young in the 80’s – Hot Dogs, Hamburgers, Dino shaped Chicken Nuggets, and even French Fries! In Neon colored dishes, we displayed the condiments for all the guests to enjoy!
Cupcakes and Desserts: From Pop Rocks, to Pixie Sticks to decorated, delicious cupcakes the dessert table was a big hit! We brought back candies of the past around the room as well such as gummy worms, sweet tarts and fun dip…anything to give your guests a laugh and make them remember the past.
Decorations, Decorations, Decorations: It’s all in the details…We made a run to a local toystore and brought back all the memories from the 80’s and 90’s. From Candy Land, to Hot Wheels, to Care Bears they all were part of the party! A great idea K. came up with is to use lunch boxes and thermoses as the vases and display cups for flowers! And to not let any piece of them go to waste, we filled the tops of each thermose with candy! And of course the best part, we decorated the house with cut outs of popular icons from movies in the 80’s such as R2D2…Guests had a great time posing for pictures with them and making them a part of the party!
Get Your Guests Involved: We displayed a little note in a frame that asked guests to write their favorite memory, quote or inside joke they shared with M. and then post it onto the windows that overlooked the dance floor. This was a great ice breaker and started conversations with people about what they wrote, as well as added to the decor as the colored dots were in the party colors! It is also a great item for M. to keep and save for a scrapbook of the evening!
Give Aways: What party is actually a party without a give away? The entertainment was a countdown of the top 100 songs from the 80’s and 90’s. Since the music was such an important part of the event, we thought every guest should leave with a play list of their own! In neon colored cases, and labeled so everyone would remember the night, each guest left with a copy of their very own 80’s and 90’s tunes!
All in all, it was a great night and exactly what M. had requested for her birthday…there was entertainment, great food and new memories that were being made. What more can you ask for in a party?
Continue to Elevate!
