One of the hardest parts about planning an event is finding a venue – what type of capacity does it have? What’s the view like? Can I fit my 20 x 20 stage in the front of the room with A/V and theatre seating for 500? I’m about to let you in on an industry secret…the best place to find your venue, and even your suppliers, is in Bridal Magazines and Publications.
Now don’t get me wrong…a wedding is a far different story than a corporate event, but the venues, suppliers and planners are all within the same pool. The thing is that most brides don’t hire planners so the suppliers have to figure out how to educate them on their own…with that, they provide everything you need in the publications. My favorite and a staple to my desk is “Here Comes the Guide”…talk about a great resource!! For California destinations and vendors, this is the resource for you – http://www.herecomestheguide.com/. Twenty Five dollars or less will buy you this almost 1,000 page book with all the ideas you need – flowers, venues, photography, A/V, coordinators…they are all here!
If you don’t feel like spending 25 Dollars, go to your local grocery store and pick up a couple bridal magazines…check out the back of the magazine for suppliers! And don’t forget to actually read the magazine – they have great tips, especially for those on a budget, and can help to make your meeting a complete success.
But of course you must remember a wedding is a huge thing to plan and a huge stress for the bride – don’t kill yourself on the big day…go out and hire that coordinator to help you…ESPECIALLY a day-of coordinator…There is no reason to be panicked and laying down silverware on your wedding day! Of course you can always pick up the phone and call Intertwined! ๐
